JDM x Euro – ShowOpt’s Porsche “911CGT” Build Part IV

November 30, 2010

After weeks of waiting for special-ordered parts to arrive from the land of rising sun, we finally saw some boxes arrived.

First batch of goodies came from Endless Japan, as it took months to negotiate the best possible setup for our build, and we’ve came to a conclusion to debut this vehicle being the first one to rock a set of the Racing 12 (yes, you read that number correctly as it says TWELVE) pistons BBK in the front while pairing up with a set of Racing 4 pistons in the rear!

Check out a peek at the front 12 pots here:

The Wait Is Over – KSL Genesis Coupe Styling Concept

November 20, 2010

I’m not suppose to show you guys the 3D drawings from KSL Japan, but I can show you guys what started as a concept from our in-house designer, whom whip this front 3/4 rendering out within hours one night after dinner.

null

Then the next night he finished the rear 3/4 rendering…

null

… the rest is history when the engineers of KSL in Japan created the 3D drawing & molding for the prototype, which turned into the production pieces that you can find today at the selected Hyundai dealerships.

So how did we really start off an epic project? We strip it down for the ultimate facelift! Every single parts on the panel/light/brake/suspension/wheel…etc all had to be uninstalled one by one, started off with this Turbo-model-only motorized trunk-lid…

then comes off the rear bumper…

Movie Cars Preview :: Cars 2

November 18, 2010

You guys remember Cars back in 2006 from Pixar? Well, the sequel to that animation is hitting the big screen in summer of 2011, and here’s a peek:

@ 0:21 I spotted an JGTC GT300 IS350, ALMS DB9 & ALMS Corvette… and then at the airport secruity check point I saw a VIP-style Sedan going through the “wide load” gate, which is pretty interesting, you guys catched anything else I didn’t see?

JDM x Euro – ShowOpt’s Porsche “911CGT” Build Part II

November 4, 2010

Soon after I purchased the car, I was able to sell the TechArt Formula wheels that came with the car, and purchased these Porsche OE hallow-spokes..

null

… here they are installed on the car:

Special thanks to my buddy Daniel Lim for helping out on the swap!

The stock Pirelli felt great and hugs these stock 18’s very well too!

Not sure if you guys can tell, but the dark 5% limo tint (on the rear/side windows) came off too since it decrease the visibility at night to a point where I can’t stand..

.. and I’ve got to say that after I’ve returned the car to complete stock form, I was able to truly learn about this beast with the driving experience!

Ofcourse, that’s only till I start the modding game as you have expected it! Best thing is, I sold those TechArt Formula’s for a lot more $ than what I spent on the stock hallow-spokes! More $ to go back into modding the beast, FTW & FML all at the same time LOL!

Here’s a peek of what we’ve helped KSL aka Ksportline to accomplish, from product design => product R&D => manufacturing => prototypes => production => media/press kit; now at the SEMA Show, best spot in house..

JDM x Euro – ShowOpt’s Porsche “911CGT” Build Part I

November 2, 2010

With the much anticipated response from our readers, asking when do we finally act on what we preach, which is the corner stone of any interweb blogger, we decided to make the best “JDM x Euro” on the canvas of a 911 Porsche.

Now, there are many generations of 911’s, from 930 to 964 then 993 with 996 right after and the current 997 before the brink of next year’s 998, as well as different type of models within each generation from C2/C4 to C2S/C4S as well as its counter topless part of C2S’vert/C4S’vert to Targa/Speedster and the touring GT3/GT3RS or the beastly powered Turbo/GT2…etc.

So which we did we pick? To demonstrate the best case scenario with the most modification-parts availability while can its capability can still set the current tuning trend, we picked a Porsche 996 Turbo as our platform, and here it is from the flesh:

null

… it was the night that we picked up the car, a triple-black 996TT with TechArt Formula 19″s:

null

The fitment of the wheels were great, and although we’ve nothing against TechArt, we were not too found of how it flows on this car, especially what we plan to do to it…
